Painted Lady Properties is a privately owned investment company located in rural Gays Illinois. Our company has rental homes located in Mattoon, Shelbyville, Gays, Windsor, Lake Sara and Decatur Illinois. We have long term, short term and mid term rentals available.

We also restore historic homes. In 2008, PLP restored the Livingston C. Lord home at 838 7th street in Charleston Illinois. Lord was the first President of Eastern Illinois University at Charleston and lived in the home from 1903 to 1933. By 2008, the 1880 Queen Anne home had slipped into disrepair and was slated to be demolished so Salisa and I stepped in, put a plan together and saved her from the wrecking ball. The home was sold in 2010. Historic preservation is important to us to protect our legacy for future generations to enjoy.
Painted Lady Properties buys distressed homes throughout Central Illinois. In recent years, we have invested in lake properties on Lake Paradise in Mattoon and Lake Sara located in Effingham. These single family homes are currently being marketed as short and mid term rentals. Salisa has worked at Lake Land College for over 30 years as the Division Chair of the Humanities dept. and is retiring in 2024. This should give her and I more time to focus on what is important in life including looking for great deals. She has an eye for decorating as is evident and her expertise combined with my 25 plus years of building, remodeling, mechanical systems and property management, give us a big leg up in a very challenging business climate.
